VENN

Curation, selection and exibition organisation are often strongly interlinked with my own pratice. Venn exhibition was a show I organised with artists Amy Whitfield, Polly Robinson, Simone Barnes and Anta Germane. Although the work were all very different mediums- from performance, painting, sound pieces and interactive sculpture, there were very stong underlying themes of life and death.

Alternative Audio Guide was the sound piece I made. Audio guides often act as prohibitors; preventing the viewer from  organically engaging with the work as they are told what to feel, think and what to pay attention to. This piece was aimed at villifying itself by exaggerating these negative impacts of guides. The guide told the viewer exactly where to walk and what order to look at the works. It was also played on surround sound speakers, making it even more imposing than the choice to listen with headphones.
